BMS Group, the London-based specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, announced the appointment of Jean-Jacques Henchoz to the role of chairman of the board, effective May 1, 2025.
Henchoz was most recently the CEO and chairman of the Executive Board of Hannover Re, a role he had held since 2019. Prior to Hannover Re, Jean-Jacques spent over 20 years at Swiss Re in various leadership positions, including as CEO of Reinsurance and the Regional President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
During his tenure as CEO of Hannover Re, the company delivered double-digit earnings growth and industry-leading ROE performance, leading to the doubling of its market capitalization and an upgrade to the DAX-Index in Germany.

“Jean-Jacques’ extensive industry credentials will be invaluable to us, and we expect to see sustained growth for BMS under his chairmanship. In addition, we are eager to benefit from his valuable strategic insights as we move forward as a scaled-up, thriving, global business,” commented Nick Cook, CEO of BMS Group.
“He is a proven industry leader with the ability to navigate complex challenges and identify dynamic opportunities, and I am confident that his vision will foster quality growth and innovation in our operations,” Cook said.
“Nick has built a very successful global business, supported by a talented group of leaders and colleagues. I look forward to contributing to the next chapter of BMS Group, building exciting new partnerships and strengthening existing ones,” according to Henchoz.
“Joining the board of a leading brokerage firm presents an attractive opportunity for me to leverage my global reinsurance industry experience, while supporting an agile, client-focused organisation that helps companies navigate the challenges of today and the future,” Henchoz added.
BMS said Henchoz is joining the company at a time of significant growth. In the previous year, BMS has made several high-profile acquisitions. In December, BMS completed the acquisition of the Spanish broker, Rasher and its Latin American subsidiaries. In addition, BMS also acquired UK-based broker David Roberts & Partners. Earlier in the year, BMS completed the acquisition of specialist UAE broker, Berns Brett Masaood.
